I think that if you'd maintained a comprehensive log of the expenses related
to operating and maintaining the car, you could easily show that you're not
actually realizing much of an investment gain. I doubt that any restoration
EVER (on an otherwise unremarkable example of a production vehicle) led to a
car selling for more than the money invested into it.
