First check the oil level and add as necessary.
Once full, start the engine and look for leaks and listen for
valve train noise. Assuming you have hydraulic lifters, lots
of loud clicking indicates you ran without oil and may have
run without oil. Not good.
No leaks, no noise? Wait for the engine to get hot and
look and listen again.
Nothing. Check the guage. Still reads zero = stuck gauge
or something uin the oil gauge line.
As I have mentioned before, the oil pressure line on stock
Tigers is about at the end of its life cycle. Heat and UV rays
takes it toll. When the line brakes, you will be surprised
how much oil comes out and how quickly. It can spray in
almost any direction. It that the case, replace a with a
stainless steel line from CAT or SS. While waiting, buy a
small brass plug from the hardware store and screw it into
where the line went in the block. You can then drive the car
without engine damage but the guage will read zero. My
line broke on the IN/OH line near Cincinnati on a Sunday.
Farm and Fleet had the plug and I was on the way in an hour.
Other leak sources:
Bad gaskets at both ends of the filter lines.The top gaskets
will spray oil everywhere. Mostv likely in the gasket between
the adapter and block. CAT and SS sells these. Mine
blew out in MN driving back from Big Sky.
The oil filter hoses have a small hole. Usually caused by the
lines rubbing on the steering extension.
Unlikely is a oil pump failure.
