| At the last SUNI, Doug Jennings Sr. had some pointed comments about Allen head bolts on headers... My header bolts came undone without too much hassle when I took the engine out, although I could see from burn marks on the gaskets that I'd had a few leaks at the exhaust ports (which it always sounded like... I just never knew for sure where the leak was). I'm no expert on fastener and threadlocker technology, but I wouldn't use a threadlocker on exhaust bolts - I'd just use antiseize. The blue medium-duty threadlockers soften with heat, and the red heavy-duty stuff would probably be a little scary for bolts that you need to remove with only a limited amount of tool room. The possibility of tearing the threads out of the aluminum heads isn't appealing either. Theo |
