Dash pad installation help

I am installing a new dash pad from the one I removed 4 months ago before 
painting the car.

Where I am confused is on the ends where it meets the door/window seal where 
it meets the furflex molding.  There is a lot of extra material on the new 
dash and before I cut, I was hoping someone could add their two cents.

Does anyone have a picture they could send me of this area?

Is it just cut flush to the outside of the molding and tucked under the 
black cardboard on the inside?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
