Everybody keeps referring to the 260 as obsolete. It wasn't at the time, it 
was part of a rapidly expanding engine line representing a new concept of 
engines. But then again I still like the obsolete engine in the 2004 Corvette.

That a larger displacement engine was created called the 289 did not make the 
260 obsolete anymore than the 327 made the 283 obsolete, or the 302 made the 
327 obsolete or the 350 made the 302 obsolete or the.....ad naseum
