Rodney,
While at Woodley Park British Car day this summer, I was talking to
Steve Alcala, renowned Alpine racer, performance mechanic, and body man
( who is pictured along with the Le Mans Tiger he helped restore at <
http://www.tigersunited.com/articles/dm-lister/MountjoyLemans17.asp >
shown in Paris for the Mountjoy Lister Le Mans Team. I believe his shop
is shown with the remains of the engine, on the last page, but won't
swear to it.
Steve Alcala, to my knowledge, is the only one on this side of the pond
to build an aluminum hood, he has it on his racing Alpine, I believe he
made just a few more before he refused to do another for less than
$3,000. Probably can be talked UP in price if someone were pressing
interest.
I must say it is a beautiful piece of workmanship. His own is louvered,
but not LAT shaped, but he probably did both.
I believe Martel only makes steel body parts. If you find a builder of
aluminum LAT hoods, at a reasonable price (?) let us all know.
