Tom,

You are probably right. The last bloody awful battle surrounded 75 and
later cars, as I now recall (fight lost months ago) . Before, the
exemption kept rolling, year by year.

First fight was over 1965's. Then a rolling inclusive year was added.
Now they have nailed it to the most recent roll year allowed ('76), and
won't allow another year to be included - as time goes by (previous law).

They lost the fight I stated resoundingly, but not because of car
enthusiasts, or SEMA (Specialty Equipment Market Association), and
Performance Magazines. Don't expect to resell a 1977 performance car
unless it is in original emissions equipment shape, and can pass a smog
test (getting tougher every year). No investment will be recovered.
The price of 1976 and earlier cars will keep increasing, until they try
to roll back the law again, and hug a tree,

Please do not write that you are safe, as your state does not have such
a Draconian law. It will. What starts in California, in fashion, music,
food, cars, lifestyle, rolls it's way across country in a max. of 10
years, No rationale needed, just observation. And your insurance ACV
will decline with the obsolescence of maintaining your year car to the
new laws.
