I'd beleive the master mechanic is reflecting the preferred practice
but using the wrong explaination for it. This is the kind of stuff that
drives (us) engineers crazy.

I'd also believe that the odds are high that you will have no problem
using a tow dolly, but there may be some risk to parts of the tranny
not getting proper lubrication per Theo's note.
