Headlight removal

Listers,

I've owned the car ten years, I have removed and replaced every damn piece on
the car, except the headlight trim rings. How do I do it? When the car got
painted, Dale R and R'd them, but I need to aim the lights. Help!

The manual says "prise" them off. I'm definately not interested in "prising"
on anything that could possibly damage the paint.
