FYI - The octane rating dates from the beginning of the gasoline powered
automobiles. Gasoline contains a several different hydrocarbon compounds,
such as hexane, heptane, and octane. It was noted that cars worked better
if there was a higher percentage of octane in the mix. So the octane rating
was established. 100 octane means that the gasoline contains (or performs
the same as) 100 percent octane. 87 octane performs like 87 percent octane
and 13 percent heptane. This has nothing to do with Tigers, I just thought
a few of you might find this interesting. If not, use the delete key.
