Hi Bob, Thanks for the reply. I'm familiar with air-hardening steels as they are used in the bicycle industry (Reynolds 853 and the like), but I wasn't aware that they are now commonly used in automotive steering components. The engineering properties of this stuff are nothing short of amazing. Do we have any reason to believe that 1960's vintage Rootes and MG components would be using these alloys? I'm not being skeptical here - just cautious. Best regards, Theo |
