The California Melee is scheduled for 9/6-9/8. 700 miles over great
northern california backroads. It's NOT a race or a competition event.
Just a bunch of kooks driving old, pre-1975 cars. There's typically a wide
range of vehicles, anything from rusty AMC Pacers to concours Aston Martin
DB5 Volantes (OK, only 1 of those showed up...). The rally was put together
by a guy with a bugeye, so the roads tend to favor smaller cars. But Edsels
and Impala SS's have done the melee also. It's a great time-it's not
everyday that you get to chase an Alfa Montreal driven with gusto thru the
redwoods along route 128. It's $300, which covers 2 nights in a seedy motel
in Ft. Bragg, awards banquet, tee shirt and some other swagg for 2 people.

Hope to see you out there. Last year, a couple of alpines showed up, and
they were great. My former co-driver is furiously working on getting his
Series 1 Alpines' dual DCOE's mounted & tuned-love those fins on those cars!
