Carpet Installation/5 Speed

Tigers,
I'm wondering what others have done who have installed a 5 speed 
regarding carpet installation.  I have a new carpet kit (purchased some 
time ago from Tiger Tom), but the cut-out for the shifter is of course 
for the stock 4 speed.  Wondering how others have solved this problem.

Also, I'm getting ready to install a new headliner.  What kind of 
insulation/dampening material should I use (the original "horse hair" is 
history).
