oil pan?

The oil pan on my 89 302 looks sort of like the drawing. The deep part of the
pan is in the rear. I notice the original 260 pan has the deep end at the
front. Looks like there is a line coming out where the O is that will need to
be closed. But question is can this pan be used and wouldn't this give more
front clearance?
