Your point is well taken and furthermore, splitting hairs or not, it's most
likely a moot point with most on the List, with the possible exception of
whomever might be considering buying your pushrods. Chances are, if someone
is using 351W heads, or any other early heads for that matter, they have
replaced the valves; and if they were that ambitious, they might well have
gone for aftermarket or even (choke!) Chevy valves. So what length valves
did they use? 4.87" or 5.05", or?? Additionally, there is the variability in
the depth of the valve seat, especially if hardened seats are installed.

That's all well & good, but I think you're splitting hairs. This pushrod is
specifically recommended by FMC/Ford motorsports for precisely this
conversion
and has been used in thousands of 351head upgrades. Ford is in print w/this
in
their MOtorsports parts catalog for years.
Frankly, given the cost & quality AND HP of the many aftermarket heads now
on
the market, this upgrade is archaic anyhow.
