Steve If bypassing the heater doesn't work, I might believe a leaking freeze plug. Dripping on the exhaust would make it smell inside. I had a second though about how to bypass the heater core. Remove the hose going to the core after the 'T' behind the carb, and the run a scrap hose straight to the water valve. By sure and plug the core hoses to they don't leak. Ford's are notorious for not running well when cold. That's why the racing books call for an operating temp above 180. |
