Erich Coiner kindly asked me to reconcile my last post on the Rootes
Parts List Supplement reference on TigersUnited.com, below, with an
earlier reply quoted below. I would be delighted to accommodate this
request.
Although I owned a Series 5 Alpine, with the wheel vertically against
the back wall, and my son Jay had this car, and a Series 3, and my
daughter Amy has the Series 2 Alpines, my "long-term memory" is not as
good as it used to be. Some of the early Alpines laid the tire under a
fixed shelf. Later ones stood them up against the back wall. My
recollection of these was with tie down straps, but I never had to
change one, so it was simply a recollection in passing.
Ian Spencer has the Alpine site
(http://www.sunbeamalpine.org/content.html), listed in our Online
Resources. That is the Alpine authority. Seems Rootes used a central
bolt, similar to, but of different length on different Series Alpines.
and wire/stamped wheels. The Tiger rear floor mounted version IS Tiger
unique.
The real point I was convinced of was the vertical rear wall Alpine
mount, vs. the Tiger Floor mount - a typical area to check for Alger
conversions. That issue is why I remember it at all, other than my own car.
I do apologize if I confused the vertical mount with the central bolt
attach issue.
While I was unable to answer the posted question of correct length, I do
apologize for my flaky Alpine recollection, being more concerned with
Tigers. Sorry if it was misleading, it was not intended. Now, if I
could only remember where I put my Navy sport coat my wife want's me to
wear tonight ...... :-) Getting older, my memory is really great,
just not very long. :-(

respond to a frontal integrity attack, and I do not hold myself out as
