Hi, there

Further to thread concerning Darrell and his car in Goodwood and Le Mans,
let me add a few comments from what I've seen in Le Mans :

Simple and rock steady guy named Darrell, first time we met even though
we've been exchanging mails off list several times. Vintage cars owners may
be very snobbish and arrogant, Darrell is the opposite : despite he and his
team were sort of busy fixing some details with the suspension, I've been
simply welcomed as being part of the Sunbeam family (even though my car has
4 cylinders less than Tigers !) and Darrell spent lot of time with me to
satisfy my curiosity and even introduced me to the other guys ! I tell you
what, this was really beyond any expectation !

One of the most beautiful and exclusive car in the paddock (I never intended
to be objective !). OK, OK, there was a lot of GT40, 250GTO and others great
cars but believe me lot of people stopped by to see the LM Tiger and found
it amazing ! Restoration carried over LM Tiger is a great job really worth
of praise, my assessment may be not valuable but friend of mine - specialist
in preparing Aston Martin's engine - had exactly the same feeling.

Peter Procter was racing the car in 64 and so did he in last september upon
Darrell's request (isn't that really fair ? I think it's simply kind of
magic and I can tell you there was a wonderful spirit over there !) but the
best has yet to come : Mr. Procter blew everyone's away starting the race
(Le Mans style start), I taped this on a video and it's really great ! I
think what happened next only has to be explained by Darrell, now I've been
teasin' you I think most of you will understand the accomplishment and
achievement from Darrell must be applauded like Bob said !!

Best regards from France

Denis

I agree. Some of this negative stuff comes from an obsession with winning.
I know lots of folk who never lost, because they never did anything.. When
guys like Darrell compete, we all win.

Darrell personally, his accomplishment must be applauded. Win or not, it is
the "doing" that is the true achievement for those of us with a love for
vintage automobiles. Darrell is to be congratulated. Well done.
