For anyone looking, a guy in NY has a Motorola radio for sale that is an
exact match for the LAT 72 shown in the picture on Tigers United (just the
radio, not the speaker enclosure). This means that it has the same European
markings, etc, that you see in the LAT picture. He is asking $225.00 as is,
plus shipping, which was a little rich for me as I only need a radio for
cosmetic purposes (I'm having a hidden audio system installed). The radio
is complete with knobs and looks pretty decent, but will need some cleaning
up and I have no idea whether or not it actually works. I have some
pictures, so if anyone wants the info, just drop me a line.
As an aside, although I have already decided on a course of action for my
audio system, had I known about another option sooner, I may well have acted
differently. Check out:

Although I can't vouch for the work this guy does, the concept is
intriguing. Apparently, he modifies any existing AM or AM/FM radio with
modem components and maintains the full functionality of all the original
radio's controls (push-button selectors, knobs, wonderbar, etc.). This
conversion also provides line-level outputs for an amplifier ($10.00 option)
and automatically turns any radio into a controller for a CD changer! Not
bad for completely original appearance and dimensions and prices seem pretty
reasonable!
Interesting website, if nothing else. FWIW.
