Craig,
Sounds feasible, at first glance. Even attractive as an "ease-in" throttle.
I wonder, though, what happens when this spring starts to oscillate up
and down? Does the throttle plate start to oscillate as well? Could
this cause a vibrational feedback that hits the natural frequency of the
spring/mass/throttle return spring system and cause enormous
oscillations of the throttle plate due to length changes?
Sounds like an exciting ride. (8-)
Maybe even difficult to reach a specific throttle opening, or road
speed, or acceleration rate, as this system oscillates in the normal
fashion of a suddenly stretched spring, even without the feedback oscillation.
Just a random thought.
