Doug, Tigger's, etc.

OK, for once in my life I read through the replies and all that has been
stated thus far on this topic....and that's unusual for me.

I cannot quote all of the expert sources as have my esteemed colleagues, and
I do not have an answer....I can only note my experience.

>From exceptionally reliable sources, including the fellow who put my car
together and another friend who viewed the process, I know the original 260
in my Tiger has was bored out to 284. This was done quite some time
ago....1986 to be exact.

When I originally acquired the car, it got quite hot and many on the list at
the time suggested this was due to the "overbore." Being a thickheaded
Irishman, I was not willing to accept that. Through experimentation and a
lot of help from the list, the "hot Tiger" was rectified. I am now
considering replacing the thermostat (during winter in San Diego only) from
a 170 to a 190. Reason being? When it is a bit colder....like around 40-50
degrees, I have trouble getting the car above 180!!

Bottom-line to this diatribe is mine was bored out to a 284, doesn't have
and overheating problem (anymore) and leaks some oil and burns relatively
none. I guess if you have the right casting, you should be fine. You also
need a shop that knows what they are doing. From the original owner (one
between he and I,) the over bore was completed by J. Biddle, one of the
foremost Ford mill builders in Southern California.

Again, no expert advice, just my humble experience.

Regards,

Allan
