Greetings and Happy New Year to all!
I write here infrequently but do enjoy an almost daily
stop to read the discussions which I find very
helpful.
Just to bring interested parties up to speed ... I
purchased a basket case Tiger in November 1999. I had
it dipped and rust removed in 2001 (getting it back to
the shop in late summer). Just started the body metal
repair work in December of this year due to other
projects.
This is my first venture into the realm of the Tiger
so everything is a learning curve for me. I and two
other friends have worked on various projects over the
years so have some basic knowledge of restorations.
One friend is great at fabricating panels and rough
body work. Another is great at finish work and
painting (which includes lead work). I am more adept
at the mechanicals and wiring etc. This team approach
seems to work out very well. (I am getting to become
and expert at drilling out spot welds ... LOL!) We
work on Saturdays most of the year taking some time
off in summer.
I have a photo album site in which I plan to document
this Restoration. I have just added an album entitled
"Right Rear Quarter Reconstruction". I invite you to
look at the pictures. I would appreciate any feedback
from you seasoned experts. We will be replacing
panels fore and aft in the rear quarters and the rear
corners of the front wheel wells!
Anyone out there have a spare English Wheel they want
to donate to the cause? LOL.
Look in "Right Rear Quarter Reconstruction" album
there.
Thanks for your interest.
