Ray,
Dual pattern iron bell housing was from a truck line, is very heavy, and
is NOT a scatter shield, as cast iron is very brittle. At most, it is a
source of more shrapnel.
Aluminum 6 bolt bell housings can have aluminum bosses welded in the
proper locations, drilled, and tapped for use with a 4 hole transmission case.
Another solution is to change the transmission case to a later 8 hole
model, using your mainshaft and tailstock, and innards and have both
sets of holes. A switch to wide ratio gears can be considered if this is
done, as well. Articles, downloadable spreadsheet comparison
calculators, and the Forum are available at http://www.TigersUnited.com
Tech Tips on Transmissions will also carry references to cast bell
housing numbers, as well as REAL scatter shields, which are only
available in 6 bolt type.
There was a LAT option, TIGER label, but that is rather rare and dear.
