I just had the Tiger's exhaust partially re-done. I had a mixed
system....headers, then to 2" part way, then 1 3/4" into the mufflers
and 1 3/4" out the pipes (left over from my old worn out 260 engine,
since replaced with a hi-po 289). I went to 2 1/4" pipe all the way from
the headers on back and kept the same mufflers, and also added an "H"
pipe between the two pipes. I haven't decided yet if the car is faster,
but the exhaust shop said I'd have a slightly louder sound and the car
probably would run a bit cooler since the exhaust was very restrictive
before the fix. Turns out they're right. The sound is definitely deeper
and a bit louder (cool!) and, speaking of cool, the car does seem to run
a bit cooler. I just drove through the Burger King drive through to get
Carrie the CAT Dog a burger, and even waiting for about 5 minutes at
idle there the temp. never got over about 180. It's not real hot out yet
today, but even so the car would normally get close to 195-200 after
such an exercise. Has anyone else had this experience, and does it make
sense?
