Jim,

The entire window assembly, (plastic, rubber, trim, and those clamps)
are installed after assembly. The waxy substance on the new rubber is
an assembly aid. It is inserted from the rear with an inside man
pulling on the installation cord you've put in the groove.

Many put small holes in the flat portion of that joining clip and safety
or fish line connect it to the sheet metal of the top, pulling the slack
s it goes in, then tying it off.

All the stainless goes into the groove on the inside and the rubber goes
into the stainless on the outside.

Many drive around with it all black because they did not install it
properly (neither does the factory) and it falls off at speed, never to
be seen again.

Steve
