Thanks for the feedback.  I went ahead had a cable made up with 00 wire at a
local auto-electric shop.  It is flexible enough I think but not the real
flexible stuff you sometimes see used on welders (they were out of that
stuff, waahh!).  They crimped the ends on and while I agree that soldering
would be better I'll probably let well enough alone.  It was kind of
expensive but what the heck.
