Larry is right that this would help the suffering. In my case my interior
was almost completely rotted out when I got the car. There was little left
to go by even if it had been unmolested and it has been 7(?) years since I
disassembled what was left of it. A copy of the fasteners location that
Terry mentioned would be a good start. Anyone have a scanned set they could
mail? Any offer of detailed photos are appreciated!
Larry, you should check the mailing list archives. Larry Wrights "Inside
Story" series gives some hint on actually laying down the material into the
cockpit. I'm sure there is a lot of other good stuff there too. The web is
a pretty amazing thing. When I was pondering what to do to my wiped out
steering column clamshells I had no problem finding an article on restoring
plastics and bakelite. One page I found was concerned with the restoring of
old computer cases! I learned that my shells were so far gone that painting
was practically my only choice. I also learned some about the composition
of bakelite materials. You should make sure to wear a breathing mask when
sanding that stuff.
