I believe the dashes Dave is talking about are made by a gentleman in
Colorado. I believe his name is Bill Pass. I bought one of them is burled
Olivewood and it is gorgeous. Bill sends you instructions, instrument
gaskets etc. He had both styles, with and without the cubby box door. I
originally asked if he would refinish my existing dash and he declined
saying it took too much effort and he'd rather build them from scratch. I
think I can did out the info if anyone wants it. Bill is a real gentlemen

My original dash is still in place and its not what I
think of when I think of walnut. Anycase when I get
around to refinishing it, perhaps I will send it over to
the lab for analysis. They should be able to tell me
what tree the wood came from and where the tree
grew. They had some very nice dashes for sale at
SUNI III. Considering the time and effort, it would
probably pay to buy one of those. One dash even
had glove box door option with a magnetic clasp
and hidden hinges. Tap the door and it opens.
Perhaps someone on the net could figure out how
to adapt a clapper to the door. Clap once to open,
twice to close.
