Subject: 2000 Runoffs Update
Team Tiger has had a set back at the 2000 Runoffs. Tom was protested
after Tuesday qualifying for incorrect heads. The protest said we had to
run 1966-67 cast #'d heads. The protest was accepted and resulted in
Tom's time refused and his tech stickers removed.The protest was the
result of Tom runnng 1.5 seconds faster than the next car. The protest
came from a Toyota competitor. Tom appealed the result and we worked
with a wide varity of folks in the Tiger world and Ford Motor Sports to
confirm that our Widsor Jr's were an acceptable head. Our position was
that the rules say cast iron, two valve, crossflow head with stock
centers on the valves. The appeal was denied. Tom has headed back to
Cinn. to machine a set of stock heads, install them on the car and
return to Mid Ohio by Sat. Our race is on Sunday at 2:00pm eastern. Tom
will have to start at the back of the grid. The forecast for Sunday is
42 and wet.Tom is very good in the rain. This could be interesting.
I am qualified 6th, and have not been protested YET!
