Chris,
If you "romp on it" all the way cross country then
your milage will suffer. With my 351C with a 650 double
pumper and 4 speed I got 13.5 to 14 mpg in town and
19 on the road. With the C4 automatic I put in I
only get 11 around town. With the original 289 and the
original 2 barrel I got 27 mpg on a 1800 mile cross country
run at a steady 80 mph or so with two passengers and a
totally loaded trunk, and 19 mpg in town.
