Being an old "spark plug reader", in the old days, I
was surprised at the lack of a nice chocolate brown
insulator on some plugs I was changing.  My favorite
Cobra mechanic says forget about those nice color
pictures in the old Haynes manuals, the new gas,
with the additives, no lead, and some
alcohol/methanol and/or "oxygenation" just don't do
the same job.  Can't recall what the color is now
supposed to be, but I know what it isn't.  Maybe it
was black, but not sooty and not oily.
Any "new gas" spark plug readers out there?
