Kevin,

Being an old woodworker, I seem to recall that there is a contact cement
available for veneers. As you know, contact cement is used extensively for
Formica and other branded laminate countertops. The only concern is that
there may indeed be bleed through from laminate countertop contact cement.
Check with the Woodworker's Store. If I recall, they have or can find an
appropriate contact cement that will not bleed through and will not require
the extensive weight on the veneer that wood glue will require. The
difference between the two is that wood blue has a high water content and is
prone to curling the wood, especially thin veneers. Contact cement is
usually high in solvents, so it does not require such extensive weighting
while it dries....and it usually dries pretty damn quick.

Hope that helps.

I have a new piece of walnut veneer that I want to glue to
my existing dashboard. I had planned to use wood glue, but
what about contact cement? That would be a lot easier for me,
but I'm wondering about how it will stand up over time...
what do you think?
