I second the rave for using Corroless rust treatment.
After about four weekends of taking a wire wheel on an electric drill to
the trunk, complete cockpit and engine compartment, I brushed on
Corroless. Five years later, I’m happy with it.
For areas that you may want a more even finish, like the engine
compartment and trunk, you may want to use the aerosol version, which
wasn’t available when I did the work. Otherwise, a little sanding is
necessary before you spray the finish coats.
Another great place to use it is on the bottom of the windshield frame,
before you install a new bottom weathershrip. I noticed some rust
forming on one side when I disassembled the frame to install a new seal
for the glass.
