When I was purchasing a new car in Florida that I was planning to take to the
cold climate I asked the dealer what was in the radiator. He said it was a
50/50 mix. I asked why they bothered with the mix when the cars were being
sold in a warm climate. I was told that the company didn't want the liability
of someone cracking an engine by taking it to a cold area. They just couldn't
trust the buyer to be smart enough to add anti-freeze.
Apparently, also, when a car is being imported the company isn't always sure
where the car will end up. When the car is domestic and coming down the
assembly it apparently doesn't make sense to stop and figure where the car
will be going. Just fill them all with 50/50 and be done with it. The mix is
supposedly added at the factory, but I have no proof of this. Mark L.
