Hi Allan,

How's the summer been in... near Fresno? I used to fly into FAT then
drive to Shaver Lake (Lodge) 2 or 3 times a week. Do you visit there at
all?

I'll bite - this chemical blend was first used (that I am aware of)
pre-WW II as a coolant in various British fighters that were
water-cooled and eventually in US built, water-cooled aircraft too.

The resulting useful product has some interesting properties when mixed
with water as compared to alcohol-based mixtures (with water) that were
also common.

Other trivia - first PCV system (again, that I am aware of) was around
1936 +/- and was developed to improve (extend) the life of engines that
powered milk delivery vehicles. They had relatively short service use
due to heavy acidic attack to internal engine components as a result of
poor crankcase ventilation at the normal slow speeds and hours of
"idling" of the engine. The chemical blends of oil at the time was not
as sophisticated either so that did not help the situation.

Keep stirin' the pot!

Best regards,

Don Cordier
