Colin,

Still enjoying your trip reports, and getting sympathetic indigestion
from all that grease.

Good news about your shared coffee cup (ain't love grand). Tyger
Tekknoledgys has announced a reproduction of the original Rootes Tiger
coffee cup holder. LAT 220, consists of a British plastic folding
holder, with genuine simulated factory pebble grain, that mounts inside
your between-seat cubby. It can be folded out for use on the road. Of
course, you must remain in first, third, or reverse to allow clearance
in the "ready" position, and it takes up the entire "glove box" when
stowed, but what the heck. It is 'original equipment, and homogulated
for racing. Price, $220 plus S&H and sales tax. A racing version in
Titanium, or carbon fibre is being considered. (Sorry, Jeff. Couldn't
resist)

Jay's idea about removing the key was a very good one, as the weight of
the key, and key holder, can cause the ignition position to 'swing' away
from the contact position. In your particular instance, the mass of the
K-Bar you have hanging off the key is probably a contributing factor.
Once you leave Texas, maybe you can restore it to the hidden holster
under the seat.
