Colin,
In a rush, so I'll be breif.
Your speedo has both metric and "english" speed measures. I am running a 2:88
with Michelin 185x70x13's. It runs about 72 mph at 3,000 rpm. That's 24
mph/1,000 rpm. 60 mph is about 100 km/hr, so 24 / 0.6 = 40 kph/1,000 rpm. Old
speedos loose magnetism, and need to have the "cup" re-magnetized, unless your
gears are off (internal or external). The stock speedo should have "980"
printed on the face for a stock unit. That is 980 turns/mile. Measure and mark
52.8 feet, remove the cable from the speedo. Put a piece of tape on the cable
core. Push, or drive slowly, between the marks many times. You should average
10 turns. A freind outsisde the car would be helpful. Any difference is your
error to be corrected.
