Header Heat

Hi Folks.
 I finally have my engine together and am ready to have a go of installing it
this coming weekend.I have made some performance-oriented improve ments(some
were thanks to the members of this list),among them being exhaust headers.
 My question is this: is there some sort of heatshield i should make to put
over the starter so it will work after I have been driving for a while.Is
strategic placement of the silver(foil-like) material on the firewall a good
idea too?
