Tigers,

I know I have been told that my Gant filter is a disaster waiting to happen, but
I've taken some extra precautions I've shared to prevent them from blowing off
the clamps. Now, however, there appears to be another solution to catching all
those nasty little flakes of crud I find in my Gant heading for my pristine
little copper tubes.

Having some spare time to browse through a 999 page PAW Performance Parts
Catalog (well, it really is that big, and it's better than TV) I found the
"Answer".

PAW (my favorite schlock house) has a Mr. Gasket Radiator Coolant Filter in 1
1/4 and 1 1/2 inch sizes. Both inlet and outlet have standard radiator style
"barbed" ends to prevent hose back-off, removable brass screen filter, and a
polished billet aluminum two piece housing. Looks pretty impressive. Part
numbers are MRG-4384 (1 1/4") and MRG 4385 (1 1/2"). Costs $34.95, including
two stainless clamps at PAW or HMW. It may even be possible to twist the two
apart for cleaning without removing a hose (have to look to be sure).

If you haven't seen what's killing your radiators, just look at the old core
next time you spend $300 for a new one.
