Tym,
I have successfully removed paint left on the "brightwork" by poor
masking with a self-renewing, no-mar tool - a fingernail. Works fine,
doesn't damage the "brightwork", but the "tool" doesn't look very good
after a lot of work. Not to worry, it grows back (most of the time).
