Place a 289 block, and top-loader tranny, on the correct bell housing in
the engine compartment of the Alpine a the aproximate height desired.
Place a 20 ton hydraulic ram against the water pump shaft and press back
until the valve covers hit the firewall. Add about 5 more inches, and
you've got it, close enough for Government work.

BTW: remember to fasten the other end of the ram to something solid!
