You paid $30 - $40 too much. If you wanted a six blade fan that
badly, I could have ordered a new one and sold it to you for $100.
The Mustang catalogs list different fans for 289's that cost much
less than $100.

Folks,
Thanks for all of your kind replies and suggestions to the 6 blade fan
search. Based on what I have to relate, keep the search going if only to
line your own pockets!
While up here in the Bay Area on business, I stopped by Sunbeam Specialties
and the Rootes Group Depot for assistance and they were all great and very
supportive. Even conned Norm into signing his book for me!!
On the way to Norm's place, I was heading up the El Camino in the left lane
(in Sunnyvale) and spotted a shop with "Mustang" on the far right hand
side. I made a very illegal move and crossed three lanes to get over to
the shop and check his stock. Fortunately (depending on your viewpoint) he
had one. Unfortunately, he wanted $100 for the thing. I balked a bit but
eventually forked out the dough. If you can't find one, you get desperate.
It's a nice blade and all, and he DID bead blast it for me so it is ready
to paint, but when I think that you can pick up most fan's in junk yards
for about five bucks, well, I guess you know how I feel. I suppose it is a
another example of charging what the market will bear. For me, I think I
may try searching the junk yards myself in my spare time, now that I know
what to look for.
Thanks again to all for the help and suggestions. Will keep you posted on
the results of the cooling system results. Pray for me that I have enough
clearance to make the damn thing fit!! Otherwise I have a $100 paper
weight......it's too light to be a boat anchor, and I don't have a boat
anyway!!
Regards,
Allan
