Macklin's Austin-Healy was the car LeVegh's Mercedes launched over
after race winner Hawthorne's Jaguar swerved across the track causing
Macklin to brake. LeVegh's Mercedes was full of fuel and ran up
Macklin's car like a launching ramp hurtling hundreds of feet through
the air to land in the crowd.
Hawthorne caused the crash, won the race, and was dead within 2 years.
