The following message was recently posted to me. Usual disclaimers.
Please reply to Matthew Findsen.
Sounds like my kind of Sunbeam. Pity it's not my kind of price. ;-)
One thing troubles me. This advert describes the car in different places
as a straight eight and a V8. A rather careless error. It should of
course be a straight eight.

ATTENTION CLASSIC CAR LOVERS
**************************************************************************
1926 SUNBEAM FOR SALE
Originally built in 1926 with an eight cylinder in line 5446cc engine
this car is now the only survivor of a very small number ever built. This
car was brought to New Zealand by the then Governor General Viscount Galway in
1935. In the late 1940's it was stripped of all its finery, and with a
much shortened chassis it was built into a hill climber and circuit 'special'
known as 'the grader' and raced until the mid 1950's.
In 1990, the remains of this car were offered for sale to my client, and a
major reconstruction project was begun. Luxury cars of this period were
often supplied without bodywork to a coachbuilder of the purchaser's choice.
The remodelled coachwork chosen for the Sunbeam is of a classic French style of
the period and was designed and built by Straight Eight Restorations of
Hamilton, New Zealand. The Car has covered 8000 kilometres around New Zealand
since its 1990 restoration. From our investigations we have uncovered that
there today exists one other 1926 Sunbeam, located in Scotland which was
significantly remodelled in WW2 for use as an ambulance.
