After driving the Tiger for a couple of months now to loosen up whatever
may be wanting to come loose, I am ready to start in on my suspension
problems. First problem: leaf springs.
Now, I am not saying that I don't like my springs, I do. They are very
attractive, in an international sort of way (they are more or less
shaped like French curves). C'est domage.
Anyway, it has been suggested to me by a friend who has worked on (and
IS NOW working on) A BUNCH of Tigers that, since Alpines were never
subjected to the stresses that Tigers were, springs from an Alpine would
be a good way to go.
So, what does anyone think? Good idea? Are Alpine springs exact
matches for Tiger springs?
This same guy has suggested that the suppliers and clubs are not
actually making replacements for Tiger springs, but rather choosing
similar (but stiffer) springs from modern applications (light trucks?),
hence the Alpine idea. Comments?
Oh, one more question. Anyone know a source for those plastic coil
spring spacers (not the aluminum or rubber kind)?
Thanks all.
