Hence my question, orginally. What solvents do others use for these
purposes? Obviously, carburettor cleaner means what it says, but what
of the rest? I didn't mean this to be so significant, but it seems to
be revealing a bit of trivia about our cars that I have not yet seen
discussed here.
So, how are others' cars set up for this?

Rick I've always used paint thinner(petroleum distillate) as a solvent for
cleaning parts and I even used it for cleaning my engine block before
painting and it worked excellent. It doesn't smell to bad, evaporates
quickly and leaves very little residue. REgards Armand Ritchie
