I currently have a stock 2V 289 from a '65 Fairlane in my Cobra and have
been running el cheapo 87 octane in it for quite some time without
problems; at least no pre-ignition problems. 92 octane should be fine
and if you don't do a lot of hard driving, I wouldn't worry hardened
valve seats until rebuild time rolls around.
