I know that carb opinions are like ---holes, everyone possesses one.
Here goes anyway, the Carters are pretty good carbs, but the
adjustments are a little harder than are the adjustments for the
Holley. The assortment of optional parts is far more limited as well
(I base this on a perusal of parts stores and Summit, etc.). The F4B
is a good design, but rather ancient. This doesn't mean that it
doesn't work, but there are better designs out there for a stock,
street driven 260. After all, it has been 30 years---------. The
stock 260 works well with the 390-500 four barrel Holley (with vacuum
secondaries). These carbs are tunable and have a large range of
accessories that are available for them. They give a decided boost
to the little 260. Don't expect them to transform the 260 into a
Saturn 5 main engine. Anyway, these choices have worked for me on my
Tigers over the years. I'm sure that there are others-----------.
