Well, it was a step above gravity feed!
Other hand pumps in early cars include oil feeders to engine and chassis
components.

That was to pressurize the gas tank. It was used rather than a fuel
pump....not sure why.

Was just watching a movie called "To Please A Lady" with Clark gable and
Barbara Stanwick about old Indy racers. I noticed that on the left side of
the cars is a lever and a tube with a handle that the driver can pump during
the race. What do these things do????

Help - the Wisco driving season is finally here and my Bugeye is 'missing'
in action.
I've got a terrible miss at medium throttle and low speed under load. When I
put it into second it just stutters. At higher speeds it still doesn't wind
out. This all started last Autumn. When I rev it in the garage I can hear
the hint of a miss. After test drives, sometimes one or more plugs are
sooty, often times all are clean. It idles well.
I didn't make any changes before this happened. Details: stock 1275, twin
HS2s w/ AAC needles and blue springs, Facet fuel pump with Holley regulator,
Mallory dual point dizzy and coil, new wires, NGK 6ES plugs.
I get a good steady spark at all cylinders per timing light. Timing is good;
advance is good. I checked the carbs many times, also switched and switched
out suction discs and chambers. I checked the jets, moved the flats in and
out. Tried different levels of dashpot oil (10W). I checked the floats.
What am I 'missing' here? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Hurry
- the Wisco driving season isn't that long!
Thanks.
Bud
