So, as Peter the Parts Pimp said..."They shoot financial planners, don't
they?"

So, as ever, whenever there's work to be done, The Thicko formerly known as
"Dr. Fine" is the first to volunteer. So, we needed to move a bunch of the
fleet around in advance of SOS. Also, since Larry's looking for a winter
getaway for his Austin Pickup truck, so, there was a method to his madness.

We moved out my VW Notchback, rolled it to the bottom of the lot. We moved
out the camper, and backed the Suburban in to hook up to the small trailer
that FrankenSprite's been residing on. We had to jockey the trailer around
to avoid some things. Larry "supposedly" drops the trailer on the hitch, and
I pull out of the cold side of the shop. As I clear the shop, I hear a bad
noise, and in my mirror, discover the trailer, with the car on it, has
liberated itself from the Suburban, and is hurtling toward the Type III on
the downhill slope. I'm thinking to myself... "This can't be good."

I also see Larry, doing his best old man run, and making guttural, inhuman
noises as he tries to catch up with the runaway trailer. (What, he was going
to do if he caught it???... I have no idea...).

So, I turn my attention back toward the immanent doom of "Bugeye on trailer
meets VW Notchback". Miraculously, as the trailer hits the VW, the VW front
tire rides up and over the trailer. The bumper just creases the rear fender
of the Bugeye, and bend up a fender flare that was due to be removed anyway.

I look back, and Larry's on the ground. Is it fatigue? Is it shame? Is it
embarrassment?

No, it's a formerly attached Achilles' tendon, and Larry's hurt. Oh boy. A
couple of painful steps confirm that foot ain't happy. Off to the hospital
for ol'... and I mean ol' Larry. He sees the orhto dude tomorrow, and, no
doubt, won't be worth a shit for SOS. But, we'll get him a Sanford & Son
chair and park him by the beer cooler.

==================================

You see, the thing is, I had a VW Notchback back in college (30 some years
ago). Thanks to J.C. Whitney, I was able to make it run pretty well. I
once raced a Chevelle from Fond du Lac to Oshkosh on Hwy 45 (15 miles of
twisties) and won. In retrospect, it probably had more to do with my
willingness to make insane passes than the car's capability, but we don't
want to talk about that. Anyhow, Flounder's Notchback holds special
feelings for me as it is the only other Notchback I have ever seen.
Therefore, I couldn't let the BE on the trailer smack the Notchback.

Give me another chance and Flounder's car is history. Go ahead and smash
that sucker into smithereens. I don't care.

The ortho surgeon tomorrow may make these feelings even stronger. Could be
that I would wish the trailer would have taken out the BMW and the race
trailer, too.

Painfully yours,

Larry D.
